On November 13th, Ding Xuexiang, Special Representative of President Xi Jinping, Standing Committee Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the press conference of the "International Zero Carbon Island Cooperation Initiative" hosted by China in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and delivered a speech.

Ding Xuexiang stated that China attaches great importance to addressing climate change and fully understands the special situation and concerns of small island countries on climate change issues. President Xi Jinping stated that China will continue to provide support to small island countries within the framework of South South cooperation to the best of its ability in addressing climate change. In recent years, China has jointly built low-carbon demonstration zones with small island countries, developed and implemented mitigation and adaptation projects, established the China Pacific Island Countries Climate Change Cooperation Center, and actively assisted small island countries in addressing climate change and improving people's livelihoods.

Ding Xuexiang pointed out that solving the crisis of island survival is the common responsibility of all mankind. We need to work together to enhance the island's ability to adapt to climate change, strengthen island infrastructure construction, and enhance scientific research and technological innovation in disaster prevention and reduction. Promote the green and low-carbon transformation and development of islands, build a clean energy system tailored to local conditions, develop green industries, protect island resources, and maintain marine ecology. Strengthen international cooperation in addressing climate change on islands, explore the establishment of an "International Zero Carbon Island Cooperation Organization", promote resource sharing, technology exchange, and experience sharing, and help small island countries better cope with the challenges of climate change. China is willing to work closely with all parties to promote the early realization of the zero carbon island goal and build a green island, a beautiful island, a safe island, and a happy island.

The press conference was held at the "China Corner" of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
