TOPThe newly revised "Pollution Control Standards for Domestic Garbage Landfills" will be introduced to strengthen the coordinated control of greenhouse gases and odor pollutants
On May 13th, Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu presided over an executive meeting of the Ministry, which reviewed and approved in principle the "Pollution Control Standards for Domestic Garbage Landfills", the "2023 China Ecological Environment Status Bulletin", and 41 chemical substances added to the "List of Existing Chemical Substances in China".
The meeting pointed out that
The revision of the Pollution Control Standards for Municipal Solid Waste Landfills is an important measure to adapt to new environmental management needs, strengthen the coordinated control of greenhouse gases and odor pollutants, improve the requirements for leachate pollution prevention and control, and improve the standardization level of environmental management for municipal solid waste landfills. The standards have further improved the environmental management requirements for the design, operation, sealing, and monitoring of domestic waste landfills, which is of great significance for promoting the updating of pollution prevention and control equipment in domestic waste landfills and improving the level of pollution control in landfills. We should cooperate with relevant departments to do a good job in standard release, strengthen policy interpretation and technical guidance, strengthen supervision and law enforcement, urge local ecological environment departments and landfill operation units to understand, grasp, and implement new policy requirements well, and ensure their implementation is in place.
The meeting emphasized that
The preparation and publication of an annual ecological and environmental status report is a specific measure to implement the statutory requirements of the Environmental Protection Law and safeguard the right of the people to know environmental information. The 2023 China Ecological Environment Status Bulletin comprehensively records the national ecological environment status and changes in 2023, reflecting the progress and effectiveness of China's ecological environment protection work. After the official release of the communique, extensive publicity and reporting should be carried out through various forms to guide the whole society to pay attention to the ecological environment and jointly participate in the construction of a beautiful China.
The meeting pointed out that
The List of Existing Chemical Substances in China is an important foundation for the registration of environmental management for new chemical substances. We must conscientiously implement the requirements of the Action Plan for the Control of New Pollutants, continuously improve the List of Existing Chemical Substances in China, strictly carry out registration and approval of new chemical substances, continuously strengthen daily supervision and law enforcement, and effectively prevent and control environmental and health risks of new pollutants.
